Advanced Safety for the Modern Road: Windshield Camera Recalibration

Navigating the Future of Auto Safety

Many newer vehicles have built-in cameras behind the windshield that are part of the vehicle's advanced safety systems. This helps with lane-keeping, emergency braking, and other advanced driver assistance features. These systems rely on precise alignment to work correctly. That’s where windshield camera recalibration comes in.

When a windshield is replaced, that small shift in position, even a few millimeters, can throw off your car’s safety systems. Recalibration resets the camera’s aim so it’s reading the road as it should. Without a properly calibrated windshield camera, features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, or lane departure warnings might not function properly, which puts you and others at risk.

Preferred Autoglass doesn't just stop at fixing or replacing your glass. Our certified techs handle the recalibration process from start to finish. Our team provides windshield calibration services on-site to ensure your camera's proper operation, just like it did when your car rolled off the lot.

It’s not optional. It’s essential. If your vehicle needs a full windshield replacement and your camera’s been affected, recalibration is part of the job. We take care of it all in one visit. No extra stops, no back-and-forth. Just safe, smart driving.

The Importance of Windshield Camera Recalibration

Windshield Camera’s Function

Have you ever wondered what the camera behind your windshield is for? This camera is a critical component as it acts as a safety precaution, warning the driver if they are too close to another vehicle, accidentally cross a lane or can even trigger the vehicle’s braking system in the case of an incoming collision.

Essential for ADAS Functionality

Imperative for correctly operating your vehicle's ADAS, recalibration is essential to your automotive safety. The alignment of your camera can change when you have your windshield replaced. A misaligned camera can lead to inaccurate ADAS functioning, compromising safety and efficiency on the road. But our auto glass technicians can recalibrate your front camera, optimizing your safety features. Different vehicles use different ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), and the calibration method depends on the make, model, and the specific camera setup.

Preferred Auto Glass: Precision and Expertise

Our auto glass team has years of experience in ADAS systems. Our highly trained technicians use specialized tools and industry-standard software to get the camera adjusted to the position, angle, and field of view. Some vehicles require static recalibration, where a target board is placed in front of the car in a controlled environment. Whereas dynamic recalibration requires driving the vehicle at a set speed on well-marked roads while connected to a diagnostic tool. Many newer vehicles even require a combination of both.

That’s why it's important to trust a fully trained expert capable of calibration services like ours. They’ll know exactly what method (static calibration or dynamic calibration) your car needs based on the vehicle's systems manufacturer’s specifications. Guesswork isn’t an option when it comes to your safety systems. We offer both in-shop and mobile windshield recalibration in the greater Phoenix area.

Types of Windshield Camera Recalibration

Ensuring Tailored Solutions for Every Vehicle

Different vehicles require different recalibration methods. At Preferred Auto Glass, we can cater to all types with expertise:

Dynamic Recalibration: Ideal for on-road recalibration, where a technician drives your vehicle at set speeds.
Static Recalibration: Utilizes specific target images for precise calibration, tailored to your vehicle's make and model.
Dual Recalibration: If specified by the vehicle manufacturer, a technician will combine the dynamic and static methods to perform dual recalibration.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. These guys are solid and I would recommend others to use them. I had an issue with a windshield they installed. The installation was perfect - No issues there. However shortly thereafter, some issues arose that suggested the windshield itself was defective. Long story short, Preferred was immediately responsive, often responsive in minutes. They were always super courteous, understanding, and committed to ensuring everything was good to go.

You're in good hands with Preferred,

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Windshield got hit on the way to work.

The next day I found these guys called them and got it repaired the same day. Super quick and easy process and I definitely recommend them to anyone who’s in need of windshield/glass repair.

Would also like to add that their team was awesome and very professional.

Both Nate as well as Caleb gave me a heads up of their arrivals and upon their arrivals they were very respectful, professional and helpful when I asked what the exact process was in regard to fixing and calibrating the windshield.

Awesome company, awesome team.
